Academic profile

Dr. Andreea Rosca is Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Valencia (Spain). She specializes in cognitive linguistics, language pedagogy, corpus linguistics, construction grammar, and English for Specific Purposes (ESP).

She earned her international Ph.D. in Cognitive Linguistics from the University of La Rioja (2012), where she also received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award (2015) for her thesis and research contributions. Since then, she has built more than a decade of experience in higher education, teaching in English Studies, Translation, and Applied Linguistics at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels.

Teaching & Innovation

Dr. Rosca has extensive and varied teaching experience, which reflects her adaptability across disciplines and contexts. At the undergraduate level, she has taught courses in humanities, education, business, and engineering, with a special focus on English Studies and Translation. At the postgraduate level, she has contributed to three Master’s programs, and at the doctoral level she has taught in the Doctoral Program in English Linguistics at the University of Panama.

She has worked at four universities in Spain—the University of La Rioja, the Centro Universitario de la Defensa (University of Zaragoza), the University of Valencia, and CEU Cardenal Herrera University—and has also taught abroad in Panama, further enriching her international perspective.

Her teaching approach integrates telecollaboration, Problem-Based Learning, Task-Based Learning, and cognitive linguistics as innovative methodologies to foster language learning, intercultural communication, and student engagement.

She currently co-directs the Innovation Group in Language, Employability, and Artificial Intelligence (INNOVALingua-EIA; GCID25-3799451), which explores how innovative methodologies and cognitive linguistics can transform language education and improve employability outcomes. She is also the Coordinator of the Degree in English Studies at the University of Valencia, where she previously served as Erasmus coordinator (2019–2023).

Research & Leadership

Her research spans cognitive and corpus linguistics, pedagogy, and ESP, with 25 scientific publications, including the monograph Phrasal Verbs through the Lens of Cognitive Linguistics (PUV, 2021), articles in well-established international journals, and several book chapters. Her editorial work includes co-editing volumes such as Telecollaborative Networks and Intercultural Learning in the Digital Age (Comares, 2021), Power, Persuasion, and Identity in Political and Medical Discourse: An Interdisciplinary Analysis (Peter Lang, 2026), and Beyond Pragmatics: Contemporary Innovations and Future Directions (Comares, 2026). She has also contributed to major international reference projects, including the Bibliography of Metaphor and Metonymy (John Benjamins).

Dr. Rosca has carried out funded research stays in the United States, Italy, the United Kingdom, Croatia, and Portugal, and has been invited as a visiting professor within Erasmus+ programs in Romania, Turkey, and Poland.

Since 2025, she leads the Research Group in Applied Cognitive Linguistics (CLaRe2025-671), focused on contrastive analysis, translation, and the design of pedagogical construction grammars. She also serves on the Executive Board of AELCO (Spanish Association of Cognitive Linguistics) as Secretary, supporting the advancement of cognitive linguistic research in Spain.
